Detailed Process of the Thesis
For further information about the process please click on the relevant headings below.
We place a strong emphasis on academic foundation and quality. The basis for each thesis must be a research question which should be answered based on scientific methods and the current state of literature. This, of course, does not exclude the possibility to write a thesis in collaboration with a company. The specific practice-related problem must first be turned into a research problem. In the case of bachelor theses, we primarily offer literary work due to the low processing time. In master theses, on the other hand, empirical work should be carried out in some form. Both the Bachelor's and the Master's theses should take the current scientific discussion in renowned international scientific journals into account.
If you want to work on your own topic, please hand in a one-page exposé outlining your research question and referring to the relevant round. Please explain why your topic is relevant for the research of the Chair for Marketing and Innovation and which research and methods you want your work to be based on to answer the research question. Basically, theses, especially if they are related to themes concerning B2B, can also be written in cooperation with practicioners.
You must be enrolled in one of the following degree programs: Master's degree "Business Administration", Master's degree "International Cultural and Business Studies". If you want to apply, you must meet the specific prerequisites for your thesis. Please have a look at your respective study and exam guidelines:
- As a student enrolled in the Master's degree program "Business Administration" you must have earned at least 35 ECTS credits according to § 17 (StuPO M.Sc. BA).
- As a student enrolled in the Master's degree program "International Cultural and Business Studies" you must have earned at least 60 ECTS credits according to § 19 (StuPO M.A. KuWi).
We recommend participating in at least one marketing seminar and at least two marketing lectures. Candidates are selected according to the high-performance principle which means that the best performing applicants are considered with priority. Students enrolled in the Bachelor’s or Master’s degree “Business Administration” are also considered with priority in the case of high demand.
Attention: Due to new regulations, you must be enrolled at the university at the time you submit your thesis. You cannot register the thesis during a holiday semester.
