Special exams
We are aware that studying at the University of Passau presents exchange students with special challenges in their new environment. The School of Business, Economics and Information Systems offers exchange students the possibility of a separate performance review in some subjects. We offer the possibility for special examinations in the Bachelor as well as in the Master. Here you will find the current overview of courses with optional special examinations. Please note the following additional information:
- Exchange students attend the regular course.
- When registering for exams, exchange students can opt for a special exam that takes into account their language skills.
- Registration for these special exams is done through the Dean's Office of the School of Business, Economics and Information Systems.
- The special examination cannot be included in the regular Passau study programs. Therefore, the special examination is intended exclusively for students from abroad who are studying at the University of Passau as part of an exchange program and not for foreign students who are earning a regular degree in Passau. Special exams are not recognised. This restriction also applies to students studying at the University of Passau in the course of a double degree program (e.g. double master program with Corvinus University Budapest). To ensure an equivalent degree, the regular examination conditions apply.
- Exchange students must inquire before registering for the examination whether the examination performance is recognized by their home university. The transcript of records will indicate the performance that was taken. The information letter "Special examinations for exchange students" informs the home university about the examination modalities for special examinations and can be attached to the application for recognition of the examination performance.
- Please inform your examiners at the beginning of the semester if you would like to take a special exam.
Example for the lecture "Marketing" in the Bachelor program:
There is a regular exam "Marketing" as well as an additional special exam "Marketing for Exchange Students". Exchange students must indicate which of the two examinations they would like to take when registering for the examination. When taking the special exam in Marketing, "Marketing for Exchange Students" will be noted on the Transcript of Records.
