THE Subject Ranking

The School of Business, Economics and Information Systems at the University of Passau has been ranked among the best 201-250 faculties worldwide in THE's Subject Ranking (2025). Despite a much larger field of participants than in the previous year, the School was once again able to move up in the “Business and Economics” category.

CHE University Ranking
The CHE ranking is one of the most important rankings in the German higher education landscape, especially for prospective students and potential employers. Departments and degree programmes at the University of Passau regularly achieve places in the top groups in a wide range of assessment categories. The ranking is carried out by the Centre for Higher Education Development and published annually by DIE ZEIT and is based, among other things, on a survey of students. Categories such as study situation, supervision situation, IT infrastructure and practical and research orientation are evaluated.
All Business Administration, Economics and Information Systems degree programmes at the University of Passau achieved top ratings from students in the 2023 ranking, both in the Bachelor's and Master's programmes.
‘The ranking proves,’ says Dean Prof Dr Stefan Bauernschuster, ‘that outstanding research and excellent teaching go hand in hand at our university.’

StudyCheck: University of Passau is the Most Popular Bavarian University
The University of Passau has been ranked first in Bavaria and sixth in Germany by the assessment portal StudyCheck.de, making it one of the most popular universities in Germany among students and earning it the 'Top University 2025' award.
The individual WIWI study programmes were also rated positively by the students:
The BAE, DTBS and Information Systems Bachelor's programmes and the BA Master's programme have a have a recommendation rate of almost 100%!

Prof Dr Marc Goerigk, holder of the Chair of Business Decisions and Data Science at the University of Passau, tops the list of the best researchers under the age of 40 in the field of Business Administration in the WirtschaftsWoche magazine ranking. In his research, he develops mathematical models to find the best possible decision.
