Master Seminar "Theory and Methods in Strategy, Leadership, and Innovation Research"
The seminar was a great introduction into management research and showed how creative and exciting it can be. Thanks to this seminar, I realized I wanted to pursue an academic career.

The master seminar "Theory and Methods in Strategy, Leadership, and Innovation Research" is an integral part of our master-level courses.
Objectives
- In this seminar, you will gain comprehensive knowledge about the fundamentals of quantitative and qualitative empirical social research. You will learn how theories are build and which methods to use to test and expand theory.
- We aim to help you develop a critical attitude and own views towards theory in general, and specifically in management, leadership, and innovation research (e.g. Behavioral and Attention-based View of the Firm, Cognitive Framing, Executive Rhethorics, Managerial Cognition Theory,Theory of Discontinuous Technology, Upper Echelons Theory, etc.).
- To achieve this, we will teach you how to apply basic social research thinking and methods to closely scrutinize current scientific studies and research questions. On top, you will learn how to present and critically reflect research projects.
Please note that this seminar is a requirement for writing a master thesis at our Chair.
