Admission to doctoral study
Admission as a doctoral student at the School of Business, Economics and Information Systems of the University of Passau is regulated by § 5 (Acceptance Requirements of the School of Business, Economics and Information Systems) of the Subject-specific Doctoral Degree Regulation (German) and § 6 (General requirements for admission as a doctoral student) of the General Doctoral Degree Regulation.
Admission requirements
Academic degree
Acceptance as a doctoral student requires that the applicant has completed a university degree in economics or related to economics through a Diplom, Magister or Master's examination at a university in Germany or an equivalent degree at a foreign university with a grade of at least 2.3.
Supervision
Furthermore, acceptance as a doctoral student requires that a member of the faculty who is entitled to participate is willing to supervise the applicant as a doctoral candidate. The acceptance for supervision must be proven in the form of a supervision agreement (cf. § 6(3) General Doctoral Degree Regulation). The supervision agreement should be signed prior to starting out on the doctoral endeavour and a copy must be enclosed with the application for acceptance as a doctoral candidate (cf. § 7 and 8 General Doctoral Degree Regulation).
