Seminars

Our seminar introduces students to scientific work and academic writing. It involves the review of scientific literature on a selected topic. Students will document their method and results in a written seminar thesis and present their findings to other seminar participants at the end of the semester. The seminar language is English.

In the seminar, we focus on current topics in the field of information systems that are situated within the research focus areas of the chair. The overarching theme of both the bachelor and the master seminar is "Artificial Intelligence (AI)-Based Information Systems". Within this theme, we offer a variety of topics on the design, use, and impact of different AI-based information systems, including Generative AI, Explainable AI (XAI), Business Intelligence and Analytics (BI&A) systems, and more.

Winter Semester 2026/27

In the Winter Semester 2026/27, we are offering both a bachelor and a master seminar. The planned schedule for the seminar is as follows:

  • Application Start: Monday, June 22, 2026, at 09:00 am
  • Application Deadline: Monday, June 29, 2026, at 23:59 pm
  • Notification of Seminar Acceptance: Friday, July 3, 2026
  • Deadline for acceptance of offered places or withdrawal: Monday, July 6, 2026, at 09:00 AM
  • Kickoff Meeting: October 2026
  • Q&A Session: November/December 2026
  • Presentations: January 2027
  • Deadline for Seminar Paper Submission: January 2027

Application Process

Due to limited capacity, registration for both seminars is by application only. To submit your application, please use the form provided below. The application form will automatically be displayed there at the beginning of the application period (June 22). Applications are accepted until June 29, 2026, at 23:59 PM.

Upon submission of your application, you will be sent an automatic confirmation email. Should you have any questions or face difficulties with your application, please send an email to us (office-aibis@uni-passau.de).

Applicants who are selected will be notified via email by July 3, 2026.

  • Q&A Session: May/June 2026
  • Presentations: July 2026
  • Deadline for Seminar Paper Submission: July 2026

In the Winter Semester 2025/26, we are only offering a bachelor seminar. The planned schedule for the seminar is as follows:

  • Application Start: Monday, June 30th, at 09:00 am
  • Application Deadline: Monday, July 7, at 23:59 pm
  • Notification of Seminar Acceptance: Tuesday, July 8, until 17:00 pm
  • Deadline for acceptance of offered places or withdrawal: Thursday, July 10, at 12:00 AM (noon)
  • Kickoff Meeting: Monday, October 20, 2025 (14:00 pm - 18:00 pm)
  • Q&A Session: Monday, November 17, 2025 (14:00 pm - 16:00 pm)
  • Presentations: Monday, January 19, 2026 (14:00 pm - 18:00 pm)
  • Deadline for Seminar Paper Submission: Friday, February 6, 2026 at 23:59 (midnight)

Please reserve the two dates (kickoff meeting and presentations) before the announcement of acceptances.
