Student Research Projects
Theses with a statistical focus require methodological knowledge that goes beyond the mandatory programme in this field. For a promising application for a thesis at the Chair of Statistics and Data Analytics, we recommend successful attendance of the following courses:
- Mathematik
- Statistik
- Einführung in die Ökonometrie
- Einführung in die Zeitreihenanalyse
- at least 10 ECTS from lectures in
the field of statistics
- Bachelor thesis: ∼ 35 text pages
- Master thesis: ∼ 50 text pages
- Seminar paper: ∼ 12 text pages
This includes figures and tables, but not the title page, outline and index.
- Line spacing continuous text: one and a half lines
- Line spacing footnotes: single line
- Characters per page: approx. 2000 (including spaces)
- for footnotes: Comparisons (abbreviated Cf.) Author(s) (year), page reference (in the case of several works by the same authors with lower case letters such as a or b)
- in the bibliography:
- Monographs: Name(s), First name(s) (Year of publication): "Title", Place(s) of publication
- Contributions in collective works: Name(s), first name(s) (year of publication): "Title", in: Name(s), first name(s) of the editor(s) (abbreviated as Hrsg.): "Title", place(s) of publication, page numbers (first and last page)
- Journal articles: Name(s), first name(s) (year of publication): "Title", in: Name of journal, volume (abbreviated: Volume), page numbers (first and last page)
- Web pages: Name(s), first name(s) (year of publication): "Title", exact web address (address leads directly to cited source), status (i.e. date of download)
