The DekaBank is the central asset manager of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe. By funding the DekaBank Chair in Finance and financial control, it finalizes its efforts to promote research, after already having established endowment chairs in Bamberg and Frankfurt. The DekaBank’s CFO, Dr. h.c. Fritz Oelrich states that funding a chair at Passau University is a result of Passau’s excellent reputation. In his opinion it is not only a funding investment but also a result of the good experience the DekaBank has made with Passau graduates. The director of the Sparkasse, Mr. Eckardt Helber, board member of Sparkasse Passau, was pleased by the DekaBank’s efforts. At the appointment ceremony of PD Niklas Wagner, he promised a close corporation between Sparkasse, DekaBank, the chair, its professor and its students.
